Woody Allen’s next film, “Wonder Wheel,” hasn’t even been released yet, but the filmmaker is already making plans for his next film, which he announced Tuesday will star Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez and Timothee Chalamet.
Chalamet has received critical acclaim for his performance alongside Armie Hammer in the LGBT drama “Call Me By Your Name,” which premiered at Sundance this year and will be released by Sony Pictures Classics in November.
Fanning most recently appeared alongside Nicole Kidman and Kirsten Dunst in Sofia Coppola’s Cannes hit “The Beguiled,” while Gomez appeared last year in James Franco’s adaptation of John Steinbeck’s “In Dubious Battle.”
The project, which is currently untitled, has already secured theatrical distribution through Amazon Studios, which is also distributing “Wonder Wheel.” “Wonder Wheel” will make its world premiere in October on the closing night of the New York Film Festival. It is also the first film Amazon will distribute on its own, as its previous theatrical releases like “The Big Sick” and “Manchester By The Sea” were co-distributed with studios like Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions.
“Wonder Wheel” will be released in select cities on Dec. 1, with a wide release to follow on a later date.
